Autumn Survival Kit September 13Happy midweek lovelies, last year the Summer never was and winter arrived abruptly in August with a storm that stripped the trees and ended at the beginning of this June, I think there was a Spring but it happened in the blink of an eye. This years glorious Summer has filled me with hope.

When Mother Nature gets it right and takes it slow, Autumn really is my favourite season change, a time to prepare the home for the days of nesting ahead. Crisper days, lower sunlight, the leaves gently turning from green to reds, golds and brown all leading us towards celebrating Halloween, Bonfire night and the festive season. I hope that it happens slowly this year.

I have always had a sense of purpose when September comes around but even more so living here.  Where we live now will be tricky if or when the snow falls, so I am going to throw myself body and soul into preserving pickling and baking supplies, filling the pantry and making fresh bread and soups. There will be no car in or out of this village on a hill, the only way is on foot and there are only two shops within 3 miles either way. More if you can mountaineer your way out through the treacherous country park to the old town in the dead of winter. Note to self invest in a good pair of study Hiking boots.

Here is a round up of all the things from matches to cashmere that are on my Autumn prep wish list, Happy September!

That cardigan is so pretty, I adore September, every year I think it’s the perfect time of year to dye my hair dark. This year I have done it. Embracing all that is autumnal.
