DIY STORE DECORATING WITH HOMEBASE

Pretty Cakes and StandI love perusing the aisles of a DIY store looking at things that can update a space on a budget, and easily blend in with our home filled with vintage, thrifted and junk shop finds. While the husband is poking around filler, silicone, saw blades and two by four, I am off looking at lampshades and glassware, he does however try to keep me close, once separated we can never find each other, end up lost in there for hours and who knows what I’ll rock up to the checkout with if I am left unattended! The last time we were in Tunbridge Wells we popped in to Homebase, and I went on a bit of a spree – here are the bits I picked up, and all for under £50.Simple Chic Bamboo Serving Tray
Simple Chic Bamboo Serving TrayBamboo Tray – this turned out to be just the thing to display our cactus and succulents on in the middle of our giant rustic coffee table, an island of green to calm down the living room, a place that is usually in utter chaos!Clear Glass Cake StandPretty Clear Glass Cake StandRetro glass cake stand – I have been looking for a clear glass cake stand for ages and this one with just a little decoration around the edge blends in nicely with all my vintage china.Pretty Wire Cake StandPretty Wire Bathroom TidyWire fruit and cake stand –  well not in our house, it has become very handy to keep all my sewing things in place when I am working on a project and can also be found in the bathroom keeping all my cosmetics etc tidy when I am not sewing and it comes in pink. The husband drew the line there though, maybe you will be luckier?!Cake Stands Trays and decorative boxesDecorative wooden boxCarved wooden BoxDecorated wooden box – now this is real joy, something big and beautiful to keep my paints and brushes safe, and the palette fits in too. I am looking forward to the days when it has become marked and spattered with paint and inks – then it will tell the story of all that has been created from it’s contents.

Disclosure: I received a Homebase Voucher as a press gift but often shop there and it in no way influenced my opinion of the products which I personally chose.

FABULOUS finds!!! love them all! I too, use a tiered fruit stand in the bathroom, it’s the only way to keep all the bottles, jars, tubes from looking like trash….:)

    • Jeska

Don’t they look better stacked up in the shelves, Melissa? Otherwise my collection of hotel soaps and treats would be piled up in a drawer and never be used!
