HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE MAKERS MONDAY?

vintage ceramic styling Happy weekend to you! I am prepping for a weekend of food, friends and music, we are on a mini road trip today visiting friends in two counties and almost ready to hop in the van. But before we leave, I wanted to introduce Makers Monday – created to celebrate the excellence of craft and support the local makers and businesses that are based in the towns, cities and neighbourhoods where we live.  We are obviously big advocates of this movement, it’s one of the reasons we started our own store! So I was more than happy to share one of my favourite creative days and the wonderful directory of Shinola’s UK makers with you here. Makers Monday is November 30th, 2015 – this Monday!

Makers Monday with ShinolaThis artisan bottle of cola kept me awake while I was up writing the post late last night too, so that was a bit of a treat! ‘The maker movement is built on the admiration of the highest quality products and the people who have risked everything to start small businesses based on their passion and skill for a craft. Supporting makers creates local industry and entrepreneurship.’Recycled Woven Blankets made in Wales Above – Wallis getting involved in our UK made blanket shoot! A new generation is embracing slowing down and making things with care and consideration, not trying to escape small tasks which some might think mundane. An eye for detail, purpose and use, is emerging and Makers Monday asks consumers to put their money where it’s made and pledge to buy a locally crafted product on November 30th. Have you discovered any amazing makers where you live or spotted someone spending their days in a workshop producing little pieces of magic perhaps? Do share in the comments section if you have!Makers Monday with ShinolaStarted by Shinola, a Detroit Based brand that did not want to accept that manufacturing was gone from America. They decided not to let the rust and weeds finish what they started and began making things again. I was super excited to see they launched a UK section on Makers Monday and I also found a few makers I’d like to support myself! Have a wonderful weekend and remember if you are going to spend, support the right (good) people! ;) makers monday best of
