When the prettiest book of 2013 arrived in the mail last week, I was so excited, and wow, Selina Lake’s Pretty Pastel Style does not disappoint. It is filled from cover to cover with the loveliest pastel inspired interiors. Modern settings with new ideas and a dash of vintage all mixed in, bringing long neglected pastels right up to date. With only a few more days left in our little apartment, this was to be my last craft frenzy and as you can see I had a ball. I was taken over completely by Selina’s book and found myself so inspired. I did mini make overs in my favourite corners. Repainting baroque frames from black to peach, filling jars with delicate coloured candy, pastel confetti for stuffing envelopes and straws for adding joy to drinks.Gathering together my craft and sewing supplies, I put the finishing touches to some paper party hats and gift wrapped boxes. Then put together these three quick and easy makes.
1 – Within the first few pages of the book, I fell in love with the sweetest dream catcher handmade from ribbons and metal charms, and made one using the centre circle of a small embroidery hoop and some other bits and pieces.2 – Super easy washi tape and coloured record card memo board. I got the cards from WH Smith and tape from Papermash.3 – For a final flourish and to complete my day of pastel bombing (there has been a lot of it going on online, have you noticed?) our living room, as seen on the flower vases at the book launch some washi bunting for my mini flower planter. So that is that, the apartment is sold, all this prettiness is now packed away and the next time you see a glimpse of our home it will be a wreck that needs a lot of magic and time to make it as happy as this place has been for us.
Pretty Pastel Style by Selina Lake is just peachy and available now from www.rylandpeters.com.
