Hello! I’m back to my lighting posts which might just all make it in to my self imposed April deadline (if I can repair tomorrow’s lamp). This beautiful bird has been waiting patiently in amongst the rubble of our renovations to be found a permanent home. The minimalist white lamp has settled in the living room – thanks to all your helpful comments – so this fellow is perched on my dressing table. Quite the statement lamp with his regal stance and hot pink silk lampshade. I just knew he would bring a smile to my face every time I walk past him, so had to find a place for him in our home. It is a David Hunt design from Majestic Lighting, but don’t worry he is also available with a taupe lampshade for the colour shy!For now he strikes a pose over my dish of jewellery and the books that are on my reading list, mingling with bright geraniums and flowering cacti. The vintage archive print is from Laura Ashley and lovely Mimosa painting is a charity shop find.Once I am settled in to the new office I think he may stand at the perfect height to light my way when I am sewing in the evenings and would also make quite a bold hello if we were to place him in the hallway, I love the idea of a flash of colour and craziness as a welcome when you walk in from a grey day. My pictures here do not do justice to the amazing pink of the shade, it is so vibrant and just look at those elegant legs – I think it’s love!Yes – I am really enjoying this bright corner and all the elements that tie it together. The lamp reminds me of a statement antique piece rescued from a old flamboyant aunts house and that blends in perfectly with my eclectic collection of vintage and new things. Pink, blue and yellow – who knew?!
