Happy Tuesday! The days and weeks have been flying by and I have been spending any spare time I have – creating with the HP Sprout. Layering and building a dream world based on my favourite childhood memories. Yes, that’s a tiny me with my sister and our grandad below, and did you notice my new garden inspiration board above? It’s added all kinds of green magic to the office this week.
I am building up layers of favourite images that convey my memories of playing outdoors as a child. I spent all my summers and many weekends romping around in both my grandparents gardens, and the countryside beyond, or in a playhouse that was filled with vintage china plates, had a herb garden booming with curly parsley and a small grave yard for perished mice and pigeons. I might leave that last detail out of the final draft?!
With my imagination running wild, various items, and treasured family photos scanned in via the HP Sprout Illuminator and a few vintage images sourced from online, I almost have a complete story. I have also been messing around with the stop motion video application, I’m so excited to see what kind of little edit I can create with that too, my first attempt was actually okay!
I have been especially loving the punch tool – via various methods (my favourite is the stylus), you can use it to easily cut away shapes and then fill them with new patterns or print. For example – Liberty fabric can become sky, clothes or flowers – it has been like an episode of Charlie & Lola over here, I’m taking the ‘crafternoon’ to new levels. If you have kids – they would bloody love this thing!
Another great feature is the speedy background removal – a couple of swipes with the stylus and you keep what you want and lose what you don’t! You can find the tutorial here with lots of other tips and helpful tricks. I am also putting together a little video to show a few of the ways I have used Sprout. My film editing skills are a bit slow, but I should have that to share in my next post.
I am looking forward to sharing my final creations with you very soon. Wishing you a happy and crafty week x
This post is a creative collaboration with HP. They loaned me Sprout – I’m doing the rest! :)
This looks amazing!! I love the sound of a liberty print sky. Also, I’m glad to hear of another grown up Charlie and Lola/Lauren Child fan…one of my favourite illustrators! x
Sounds like an exciting and clever project! Love your luggage labels too, so pretty ☺️
