I am not usually a fan of infographics, which is strange, as I love learning statistics, facts and information – and these are made easily available and understandable in infographics. Maybe it’s because I have been emailed so many bad ones?! Anyway, all that changed when the stunning book Taste arrived on my doormat.
This beautiful book written by Laura Rowe and illustrated by Vicki Turner, explores the complex and colourful world of food, through a collection of thought-provoking and beautifully crafted infographics. It covers everything you need to know about food – from its origins to its consumption, weird and wonderful traditions, trends, unusual facts and some great recipes.
These are my favourite pages, but there are so many more amazing pictures and charts inside. It feels slightly folky to me and that makes me really happy. Who knew courgettes could look so good and check out the herby happiness below! :)
Hummus is a daily food in our home, so I was very excited to read all the variations for this simple but delicious dip, spread, sauce! I love looking at all the details in Vicki’s stunning illustrations and learning more about the heritage of the ingredients we all hoard up in our kitchen cupboards. A kitchen table book that is as beautiful and informative, as it is useful!
