Beautiful book time for you! Today I am all giddy about small space living with this lovely new title Beautifully Small by Sara Emslie. The inspiring pages within embrace the happy side of living in small spaces. Sara shares ideas for making compact interiors work with creative styling throughout the chapters – 1: Inspiration, 2: Elements of Design, 3: Elements of Style and 4: Case studies. Sara has drawn inspiration from tiny spaces such as boats and caravans as well as her own home – an itty bitty workman’s cottage in Richmond, London.
This book is a refreshing and stylish change to the modern day fancy for large scale and sometimes unnecessarily flashy homes, that are more for wow factor than for living in and enjoying. A chic reminder that small, if carefully considered – can be beautiful.
Although our home is modest (not much bigger than the apartment we moved from), we often imagine downsizing further and I love the practical solutions Sara shares for the problems that can often be found living in a pocket-sized space. I will definitely keep this title close, just incase we build a tiny cabin somewhere!
