Happy Tuesday to you! I have to admit that this extended weekend has been packed with so much fun, I thought it was Monday! These pictures are from last week, we thought we had better tidy up the garden up before Autumn arrives for real.
Earlier in the year we started creating our beach style garden. We planted lots of herbs, lavender, verbena, cow parsley and shoreline friendly poppies. Now they are slowly taking over the huge expanse of shingle that we put down, just as we hoped.
This post was supposed to be all about harvesting lavender and collecting seeds from around the garden, but instead it turned into an impromptu photo shoot of the normally camera shy Wallis.
Never one to turn down the opportunity to spend some time in a basket, she hopped in before I could fill it with all my cuttings and lavender stems.
The garden did eventually get tidied, we raked the shingle back into place, then lopped the browning leaves and flowers off of everything, so it’s looking all fresh and revived.
Envelopes have been filled with seed from Poppies, Cow Parsley and Astrantia, I am covered in scratches from an out of control rambling rose and Dean has worn a hole through his glove from hoeing!
I can’t believe how much we love our garden, learning how to take care of all the different plants, feeding the birds, even digging land drains and trenches has been fun! As the nights draw in and the evenings get crisper, I am looking forward to having a bonfire party or two, baking some potatoes in the embers and mixing up some hot spiced rum cider for friends.
I never mind an excuse to see your kitties! So cute! Your garden looks dreamy good, enjoy! xxx
Thanks Kimberly! just need a fence to keep the neighbours dog out and we are good!! :)
