Spring was just waking up in Paris, when we arrived in this bustling neighbourhood. Our beautiful little apartment had balconies overlooking the Sacré-Coeur which shimmered in the sun in the mornings and was lit up with the glow of flood lights in the evening. Todays post is all my favourite glimpses of Paris.
A jumble of pots and tins had sprigs of green starting to spill out of them outside on the window sills and we ate breakfast overlooking the streets each morning, watching children walk to school and people going about their daily lives, five floors down.
Each day more and more tiny green shoots became leaves on the trees and by the end of our visit some looked just stunning like this.
A walk up what felt like a million winding steps and you can take in this breath taking view from inside the dome of the Sacré-Coeur. Surprisingly few people made the climb. I was breathless on the way up and dizzy on the descent, but it was so worth it!
We spied lots of cats basking out on the sunny streets and this lovely boy had a particularly hot and peachy corner all to himself.
Another glimpse from atop the Sacré-Coeur, so much to see in all directions, but I fell in love with this row of blush, salmon and rose hip pink buildings.
A walk along the canal, taking in all the lovely bridges and boats traveling up and down, people taking pictures, watching to locks open and meeting up with friends for lunch.
The sun was shining on all but one of our five days in the city and the sandy, silvery tones of the Paris buildings and zinc roofs were shimmering and glistening. From up high the whole city glows in a pale silver, blush and stone.
My inner gardener was so excited to see this tiny roof garden complete with a shed teetering on top of a very skinny building in Montmartre. Blink and you’d miss it – but about two and a half inches up from the bottom in the picture above, a couple are having a drink and tending their plants. Wednesdays Paris visit will include my favourite flowers hop in the whole city. x
Gorgeous photos, love the roof garden in particular.
I wanted to zip-line across say hi and look at their plants! :)
I like your views and details about Paris and how you describe it. For me, a french mum living in London (having moved 5 years ago), is always great to hear about Paris from an outside point of view…BEAUTIFUL indeed !

What beautiful images! You’ve really captured the heart and soul of Paris – I could stare at this post all day long. It’s such a fantastic city – I spent a year living there as a student and I think looking back it was that time that inspired me to start photography. There’s something beautiful around every corner! x
Wow, a year. Amazing Abi! I needed to get a safe distance away from such good bread, but think it’s already time to go back :) x
Looks like a city ready to be explored! Love your eye for the little details, gorgeous images! :) Katie x
