JESSIE CHORLEY WORKSHOP AT BUTLERS EMPORIUM

Jessie Chorley at Buters Emporium HastingsRight, are you sitting down? I hope so because these pictures may contain too much joy for a standing person. On this sunny Sunday just past, I was invited to Butlers Emporium in Hastings Old Town by my lovely friend (and the owner) Rose to a gathering of happy sewers all making beautiful brooches with Jessie Chorley.Butlers Emporium Hastings Old TownWhen I arrived, I found the windows decorated for Valentines weekend, with vintage suitcases full of stunning hand made meringues and a beautifully iced, multi coloured layer cake. Inside the shop, a huge table was piled high with ribbon, fabric, lace and all the magic that the combination of a Jessie Chorley workshop and Butlers Emporium make!Butlers Emporium Hastings Old TownJessie Chorley at Buters Emporium HastingsThe attendees were all carefully stitching and immersed in putting together these pretty hand embroidered rabbit brooches.handmade by Jessie ChorleyJessie Chorley at Buters Emporium HastingsJessie Chorley at Buters Emporium HastingsButlers Emporium Hastings Old TownJessie Chorley at Buters Emporium HastingsSonia from the lovely Old Haberdashery of Ticehurst, has a little pop up shop of beautiful notions and embellishments to get you inspired in Butlers at the moment, and those Liberty print buttons surely need to find their way onto someones cardigans?Pretty Twinings TeasSadly I did not have the whole day free to take part, but I managed to snap some pictures of all the festivities, drink a cup of something yummy and eat a delicious slice of Rose’s home made frittata while I was there. Aren’t these tea packets above and pink sugar meringue clouds below pastel heaven?!Jessie Chorley at Buters Emporium HastingsJessie had a collection of her hand sewn treasures for sale on the day. Needle cases, pin keepers, brooches and hand stitched and starched hankies all jostling together on an antique table. With these and all the cake I was in raptures and I cannot wait to make one of the brooches when I have an a few calm hours to sit down and stitch.  Butlers Emporium Hastings Old TownRose has all kinds of vintage making supplies, spilling out of antique drawers and cupboards in Butlers at the moment so if you haven’t popped in recently may I encourage you to take a little trip and top up your sewing basket from my favourite old town shop?
