Today I have some exciting and scary (for me) news, that I hope you will embrace. I know my posting has been sporadic and sometimes non existent of late, but I have been putting my time and passion for discovering to good use, I promise. I have been super terrified and excited all at once to share my new online store with you The Future Kept.
Nearly ready to open, the store will be filled with carefully sourced items from independent designers, makers and artisans who are creating products that are better for our world, hopefully becoming part of your life story, forming an intimacy between you and your belongings. A handmade spoon that can be passed down through your family to each new generation of cake bakers, held by grandparent and grandchild to stir a comforting pan of lemon and herb risotto. A lip stain that has been created with care and love, with no harm to the Earth, animals or it’s people. I hope you will come with me on this new adventure. Later on you will meet some of the lovely artisans and makers we have been able to work with, and hopefully as our fledgling business grows we will be adding some products we have made and designed too.
My husband Dean and I have been through lots in the last couple of years, not least wondering what life is all about, some trivial things some seemingly huge. Personal circumstances and events that have happened, have had a profound and I hope – positive effect on our thinking and the way we live our life together. Setting up has taken more tears, time and inspiration than I could of ever imagined. I had hoped to share this all months ago, but now feels good too. Some days I have been floundering and wanting to just run away, with the home renovation, and wilderness garden peeking over our shoulders at the same time, we have indeed wondered if we’ve bitten off way more than we can chew.
But I really want to share beautifully made things which in some way support a good cause, things that we can feel good about buying, items that are better for our world. Choosing the items we live with in a more considerate way, and a few little changes in the way we shop can make life better for everyone, and this can be done in a stylish manner too. It is a huge learning curve for us, so having you along for the ride will mean a lot.
Don’t worry I will still be here sharing all my interior joy and more here on Lobster and Swan, there are many beautiful posts in the works so do stay tuned. For today I would be super psyched to have you come along and join me at The Future Kept ready for launch day, don’t forget to follow us over at Intagram, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest too for more info and inspiration!
