Fairy Tree TopperI found this little lady in a junk shop, wearing a ridiculous hat and a threadbare embroidered dress. All pinks and creams with german metal braid, she immediately caught my eye and I snapped her up for £2 knowing she would be the perfect angel to sit on the top of our Christmas tree this year. First things first – off with that hat, made of starched lace I knew it could be recycled into a crown.Fairy Tree TopperI added a layer of lace to her skirt and painted it with tea to age it, cut a pair of wings from a tiny old map of France, then blended my own glitter mix to dust her wings and crown.Fairy Tree TopperThe lace hat was cut down to a more fairy-like height and shape, glittered and glued into place. I also popped a few vintage rhinestones on the front for even more sparkle (couldn’t help myself)!Fairy Tree TopperBelow I also added another layer of lace to tidy up the bottom of her skirt and some gold glitter for her feet (just incase they were visible from atop the tree). In honour of my favourite sparkly shoed heroine I think I’ll call her Dorothy.Fairy Tree TopperNext a wand and even more glitter with a halo of stars. I am so excited to start decorating but for now Dorothy will be kept safe in a box until December – if I can wait that long. xFairy Tree TopperFairy Tree Topper
