Summer garden updateRain one day sun the next, summer is getting off to a troublesome start – but this is England after all. Creating an outside space that is easily moveable is the answer in these conditions. Working with my lovely friends over at Urbanara I have created this portable summer oasis, that can be swept inside when those dark clouds come floating by!Flowering SucculentsLuckily for us, when we moved in here, there was a decking area already built outside the room we now use as an office. We put in new double doors that lead out to the garden – which makes for easier indoor/outdoor transitions on fair weather days.Summer garden updateI keep all my new garden plants out on the deck – as a kind of holding area before planting them out. I love to be surrounded by all kinds of plants indoors and the same goes for out! Summer garden update Keeping them near – means up close encounters with bees, butterflies and all the other wildlife that come to visit. Plus, they make a perfect temporary green wall around the edge of the deck and whatever dining – snoozing – reading scenario we have going on out there.Summer garden updateAs we only have a picnic table for the sitting at, I thought I would update our lounging arrangements with some iconic summer seating – a pair of contemporary striped Sellin Deckchairs.Summer garden updateIn charcoal and cream – the sling is complete with a small neck cushion hurrah! For extra eco brownie points (a must in this home), the simple yet sturdy frames are made with Portuguese-grown, strong, FSC certified eucalyptus wood.A makeshift table of vintage crates, some of my fave magazines, a decanter full of iced lemon and strawberry water – and we are ready to soak up some of that June sun (while it lasts).Summer plantsI have a stalker like obsession with my local plant nursery, it is only a 10-minute walk away and I am always bugging the lovely owners to see what new blooms they have – mainly their roses. My weakness for roses was magnified after our recent trip to Burgundy.Summer garden updateThis exquisitely scented beauty (Gentle Hermione) is the first in what I know will be a life long love affair with David Austin roses. I already have my eye on another! Summer garden updateTo complete my ideal outdoor oasis – for me, a relaxing garden setting always has something soft underfoot, I love grass – but it tickles! To remedy this I like to have to have a blanket or sheepskin underfoot to rest my feet on. Summer plantsSummer garden updateNow let’s fully recline these beauties and take a nap x Faux flowers outdoors

Looks lovely. I love Gentle Hermione. I have a flourishing one right next to the bench in my garden and it smells gorgeous. The blooms make nice cut flowers inside too x

Oooh what a gorgeous little oasis! And I love those deckchairs too. We’re about to move house and I’ve been promising myself a comfy deckchair for the new garden — shall bookmark these beauties. xx
