Summer abundance and colours everywhere. Rachel Ashwell’s new book – My Floral Affair is an ode to her lifelong obsession with all things floral. Fabric, flower styling and pastels, it’s all in here with chipped paint and whimsical spaces indoors and out. If you love a bucket of shabby, swooning roses or swags of fluffy foliage then this is definitely for you!
The chapters take you through the English countryside on to France, up through Norway and back to the USA visiting artists and creatives that are also inspired by blooms along the way. Pssst – in the back, there is an amazing illustrated bouquet breakdown.
Prepare for even more of your shabby chic dreams to be realised in this lovely big book. There are roses, rust, faded flowers and exquisite decoration in every corner of the homes and places visited. Crumbling walls with delicate flaking patina, old wood and stone steps.
Only Rachel could hunt down this many pink and white cornflowers in one place! These remind me of ‘Pink & Whites’ those marshmallow and coconut topped biscuits we used to have at parties back in the 80’s – do you remember those?!
My favourite nook in the whole book is this perfectly rustic garden alcove with pots of loveliness everywhere and a rain-drenched deck
.
This book is just the tonic for all the hazy sunshine and long summer days we are having this year – My Floral Affair by Rachel Ashwell, published by CICO Books (£25) Photography by Amy Neunsinger © CICO Books.
