picture postcards from the weekend. In an attempt to reclaim some structure in my life after the last year and a half of mayhem, I thought spending the weekends off all social media (and news) and falling back in love with my creativity off-screen and my camera (for August at least) seemed like a plan. I feel myself reaching for my screen way too much each day, checking in everyone and everything that is happening (good and bad) has become a bad habit. Time to keep the phone holstered, get inspired and maybe turn up here some Mondays with a few new photos each week?
So I’ll be off chasing some summer holiday vibes, being a tourist locally again and straying a bit beyond our garden fence. But before that, some pictures from around here and the garden. The sweet peas have been incredible this year after a rocky start and bouts of extreme weather each week, but we have jars and jugs full every day, and although their stems are getting shorter they are a scented joy and still covered in blooms.A cup of butter coloured happiness, I love this turmeric tea steeped in plant milk with a dash of cinnamon agave syrup. Also good with just hot water. This colour combination of sea kale and aquilegia going over made my week.Three happy pots that have survived wind, heat waves and torrential rain for weeks.A sunbean dancing on a bowl of nasturtiums in my favourite corner.Another garden trooper, these Totally Tangerine dahlias are a happy sight in the new cottage garden. And surely no bloom is more joyful than the big smiling face of a sunflower, this is my favourite – pro-cut plum seed from Sarah Raven. A huge tub of Erigeron karvinskianus, the Mexican fleabane filling a bleak corner of the back garden and finally below, a bit of styling for the shop, blanket day is here! Happy Monday, wishing you a wonderful new week.
