Evening! I am working late in to the evening and feeling quite zesty after finishing a 3 day juice detox with Juci Wellbeing. After weeks of travelling, road trips and festivals, my eating has been out of control. Bread seems to be the main food group in my days and sweet snacks have taken over. So when I was asked to trial Juci’s new detox plan I said yes. This is just the wake up call I needed to get back on the healthy and raw road. I am not going to lie it was a tough three days, and the multi pack of Hula Hoops screaming out from the kitchen cupboard made it so much worse. keep reading for the good, the bad, the ugly and some tips to ease a three day detox if you decide to reset.
I just wanted to add, that I see a detoxing as a way for resetting and getting back to healthier habits, not losing weight, even though this can be a happy bonus. It will only be short lived if you don’t take care to eat well after completing a course of detoxing, and why waste all your hard work, because lets face it – it is hard to only drink your nutrients for three days. So lets get to it . . . .
The good
1. All the juices are cold-pressed and 100% pure and natural, containing no dairy, gluten, egg, soy, artificial flavourings, colouring, sweetness or preservatives of any kind.
2. I feel great for not eating any refined sugar and wheat for three days.
3. All the juices arrive chilled and pre bottled so no washing up a juicer and all it’s parts.
4. Simple plan and meal timetable for busy schedules.
5. Easy to throw in your bag to take with you if you are heading out for work or play.
6. The juices are quite tart but I found them refreshing – and Juci Shine (2) was a real treat.
The bad – 1. if you are not used to drinking raw fruit and vegetables, some of the flavours might take a bit of getting used to.
2. Headaches, mine were only mild, but they come with the territory and it’s just a reminder of how addictive caffeine and sugar is for you!
3. Number 3 was a little thick and lumpy for me, so I blended it smooth and poured it back in the bottle! See above and below.
4. Number 2 and 4 are the same and have quite a lot lemon, cucumber and broccoli bits in them, that take a bit of getting used to. But it’s something to chew and staves off hunger slightlyThe Ugly – 1. The Psyillium husk supplement is a like drinking lumpy glue, but stick with it as it’s your source of fibre during your detox programme.
2. Needing to pee every five minutes of the day, a slight inconvenience – but that’s the point so I’m not complaining!
My Tips for getting through a 3 day juice detox –
1. Make sure to keep the juices in the fridge if taking them to work, as chilling keeps them fresh.
2. If you find the Psyillium husks tough to drink, mix them with an inch and a half of fresh pressed (not concentrate) orange juice and then follow with a glass of water.
3. If you don’t like the texture, blend number 3!
4. Use a straw to drink them with.
5. Break up the hours in between with your favourite caffeine free herbal teas and lots of water.
6. Cleanse your cupboards of all snacks, treats and temptations the week before. Nope don’t binge on them -take them to work and share the wealth. xxx
Good job! Love it and some great tips x x
I am back on the juicy path to enlightenment! :)
