WEDNESDAYS AT HOME – LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER

interior details liberty print cushionIt has just gone midnight as I finish off this post and the house is still all topsy turvy, from my epic move around. Time to share our living room makeover – once the bedroom, now this light filled room is our indoor green house come living space. Three rooms are becoming something different. We are swapping the office into the old living room (we need more space and it’s lighter in there). The bedroom in to the old office (it’s north facing so no blistering sunlight in the retinas at 6am).  And the living room in these pictures is almost there. hand made plant hangersIt was our bedroom last week – but with doors that lead out into the garden and sunlight for miles, this will be the room we want to spend as much time as possible when we are at home now – just in time for spring and summer.interior details sheepskinIn between tidying and rearranging, I had to snap a few pictures of all that magical light pouring in. The room is quite compact, so stays lovely and warm with all the sunbeams it traps. With one almost all glass (south facing) wall it also makes the perfect greenhouse for our growing indoor jungle! hanging plantersThe sunlight in here is just magnificent and I am always sneaking off to bask in it when I am supposed to be working, or eating my lunch sitting on the bed (which is not ideal), so it seemed to make sense to have a move around and make the rooms work for us.interior details ethnic accessories The two chairs were rescued from eBay, and reupholstered in linen and some amazing 1960’s floral fabric which was made in to the piping for a bit of zing around the edges. The sheepskins are comfort and function as the cats keep trying to shred our newly recovered chairs! An old crate upturned is our modest £6.50 coffee table as the one we brought with us from the apartment was way to big for this house and now has a new home with a friend.interior details eclectic picturesJust need to get some of our artwork framed and hung up and then I think it will be just about finished – well as finished as anything can be around here, with me moving things all the time ;)  right, sleeping time xinterior details vintage furniture interior details Plants and pictures

How lovely, Jeska! This looks like the perfect room to curl up on one of your beautiful chairs with a cup of tea and a book…or just to have a doze in the sunshine :)

Thanks Kate, it’s such a sun trap, makes for the warmest afternoon snooze – maybe I’m turning in to a cat?! xxx

This so beautiful Jeska! There’s a feeling of nostalgia with this this room. Loving all the smaller details i.e. hanging pictures, plants and mirror <3

Such a beautiful and light space! I love the mix of materials too. And your beautiful rug is just that – beautiful. Our livingroom is lovely and light too but i always find my plants shrivel and die ‘cos it’s too hot! Any green fingered tips?!?!?

Thank’s Sally! Just keep them watered and only mist them after the sun has gone? My succulents are quite neglected, I give them just a drop of water ones a week, all the leafy things get watered twice a week and anything with flowers every other day when it’s hot (they get super thirsty) :)

Your home is beautiful & cozy, it has ‘character’. I saw some pics on Pinterest and I had to come here to see more. Amongst other things the plants display caught my eyes.

What a beautiful, sun-filled space – I can imagine lazy afternoons dozing and reading there. It sounds like you’re getting a lot done very quickly, too! x
